Kudos to Ms. Oswald at WEMS for another successful year of Scholastic Book Fairs. This year, due to your wonderful support, WEMS has generated almost 800 new Scholastic Books that will very soon be on our bookshelves, ready for kids to check out! Although we were disappointed that we could not offer BOGO this spring, it's a wonderful feeling knowing that ALL students will soon have access to these new Scholastic Books in their very own WEMS Library!
Soon, we will post vital data related to Literacy in the U.S. to our FB and Twitter pages. We encourage you to check it out and to continue to find ways to support and prioritize reading and literacy in the home.
WHS 9th and 11th grade students will be participating in testing this week, Tuesday-Thursday with the following assessments:
4/5/22 - ACT for 11th grade
4/6/22 - ACT Aspire for 9th grade
4/7/22 - AzSci for 11th grade
Student Athletes can make up the assessment on Wednesday 4/13/22.
Testing will begin at approximately 8:15 and should take between 3 and 5 hours depending on the assessment. There will be no change to the daily schedule.
WEMS 3rd-8th grade will be participating in state testing starting next week. In case you did not receive a paper copy of the testing schedule, one is attached here. Testing begins each morning between 8:15 and 8:30.

Soft covers are $20 and hard covers are $25. After April 4th, prices will increase to $23.00 for soft covers and $28.00 for hard covers. Your child’s teacher has extra order forms, as well as the front office.
Good afternoon WEMS families -
This is a reminder that Wednesday March 23rd from 2:00-5:00PM WEMS will be hosting our Spring Conferences for families. Elementary teachers will have conferences in their classrooms. Middle School teachers will all be in the WEMS Gym, come and meet with the teachers you wish to speak to.
As you know, this year we have been working on our emergency responses, such as lock downs. In an effort to fill our "emergency buckets," during conferences we will be accepting donations of cases of bottled water and boxes of granola bars to use in the event of a lock down or other emergency situations. If you are able and willing to support our school in this effort, please bring your donation to the school during conferences.

A team will be practicing from 4-6:30PM
Also, B & C teams will NOT practice this Wednesday due to conferences. A team will have practice at their usual time.
Volleyball is playing on Saturday at Parks. The team will depart from WEMS at 12:30PM and return around 6:00PM.

FAFSA Night. On March 30th from 5:30-7 pm at WHS we will be having a FAFSA Night (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Experts will be here to help students and their Parents/Guardians fill out their FAFSA. Anyone attending any type of school after graduation HAVE to fill this out and it can lead to a federal Pell Grant of up to $6,500 per year that the student attends, Work Study, or Stafford Student Loan eligibility. I suggest that every family fill this out just to see what type of federal aid they can expect if your student decides to attend a Community College, University, or Trade School as the Pell Grant alone could cover some or even all of your student's educational expenses. Things you should bring to FAFSA Night: FSA ID for both student and parent (your student should know how to get this. This can be done during FAFSA Night also, 2021 taxes (paper, digital, or have access to them online), Social Security Numbers for student and parent, Date of birth for student and parent, and date of parent's marriage or divorce. It's not too late to decide to get additional training after high school and this may just give you the financial answers you need to make that decision. Hello families of WUSD # 2. TODAY at the local Art Gallery In Williams there will be a Youth Art Month Reception from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This is a free reception for all artist, friends, and family. The Gallery in Williams is located on 145 W Route 66. Artworks will be for sale and all proceeds will go back to the student artist. Thank you.
Just a friendly reminder there is no school next for Spring Break. Rest, relax and recharge for the last quarter. We have parent teacher conferences and the book fair when we return. We look forward to seeing you Monday, March 21.
