Get help with your FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid). We will be having an expert come and help families fill out the FAFSA Tonight (Tuesday) October 19th from 5-6 pm at the high school in room 15. Any student planning to attend any formal training (both career and academic) after they graduate will have to have the student and their parent/guardian) fill out this application. The FAFSA helps college, university, and trade schools determine how much federal aid and what kind of federal aid a student/family can receive for their pursuit of additional training after high school. I recommend that every family fill this out as they can see what type of aid and how much they can receive instantly, and I have experienced in many this being the event that has helped students make a decision as to whether they are or are not going to attend a trade school, college, or university. The types of federal aid that a student can receive by filling out the FAFSA are the Pell Grant (up to approximately $6,500 which does NOT have to be paid back), Work-Study positions wherever they attend if available, and eligibility for the federally backed Stafford Student Loans. It is free and anyone can fill it out. If you can not make it tonight then please call or email me at jpowers@wusd2.org and I can direct you to our expert who is also willing to set up one on one meetings with families to complete this. It is important that students/families fill out this application now as there is a limited pool of money for the Pell grant and it is doled out on a first come first serve basis.

Hello WUSD # 2 students, families, and staff members, We have seen a major increase in students outside of the football stadium during our home football games the past few weeks. These students are spending the game outside of the football stadium where there is little to no lighting and where there is no supervision. Beginning this Friday (Sept 17th), WHS, with the support of WPD, will be sending any minor off campus who is NOT inside the WHS Football Stadium. Parents and Guardians, thank you in advance for you understanding and support.
