Greetings Vikings! Important Statement re: Credit Reinstatement! If you earned the credit (a passing grade of 60% or higher) in your Semester 1 classes, you will be awarded the credit!! There will be NO Credit Reinstatement Committee for Semester 1. We will continue to monitor the situation for Semester 2 and be prepared to make a similar decision. Parents/Guardians, please help forward this text to your WHS students. Thank you!

Greetings Vikings. Tomorrow (12/16) and 12/17 are both half days for WHS. Buses run at 3:40 on 12/16 and at 12:40 on 12/17. It’s Final Exam Days. Tomorrow are periods 1,3,& 5 exams. Thursday are periods 2,4,& 6. If a student has an A in the course, they are exempt from taking the exam. If they received no discipline points this semester, they are exempt from their finals. Exempt students can still take a final to help improve their semester grade, but it CANNOT hurt their grade. Each final is an hour and half in length. You may not leave early if you finish early. Attendance at WHS tomorrow is only meant for those taking a final. You will be marked absent though if you’re an in person learner for recording purposes. Good luck Vikings and let’s finish the semester strong!!

Hello WEMS Families: With some of you recently switching your children to remote learning, we wanted to once again share our school's Remote Learning Expectations. Please click on the link below to read more about logging on daily for attendance, being on time for ZOOM classes, and more. Parental support is vital for students' remote learning success. Grade 3-8 families, please check children's grades once per week in PowerSchool. PK-2 Families, please stay connected and in contact with your children's teachers. If any remote learning family needs more support with the online platform, Mr. Wollman or I will gladly meet with you for a Google Classroom/Remote Learning Tutorial Session. Thank you, Dr. Morrison https://5il.co/n77w

A huge thank you to Mike and Stephanie Cowen and Route 66 Auto Care for their donation of winter gear to the students of WEMS. They donated several boxes of brand new winter coats, boots, hats, and gloves to the WEMS students. If your child is in need of winter gear this season please contact the school, or have your child ask their teacher. We will pass out the winter gear we have completely free to you. We have youth XS - youth L for boys and girls. Contact Mr. Wollman (awollman@wusd2.org) if you have questions.

With the holidays approaching several business, organizations, and individuals are wanting to assist families through clothing donations, gifts, and food. If you know of a family in need during this season, please reach out to Mr. Wollman (awollman@wusd2.org) with your recommendation. Lastly, through these programs you and your family may be recommended to be on the receiving end of these generous organizations. We are all better when we work together as one. Congratulations to our WEMS Falcon Flyers Afterschool Program for being 1 of only 10 schools in Arizona selected to participate in the 2020-2021 NASA STEM Challenge! This is an amazing opportunity for our Falcon Flyers to connect with NASA scientists and engineers and solve problems based upon real mission data and experiences that occur during human and robotic exploration of the solar system. Greetings WHS ONLINE LEARNERS, or anyone who might be an online learner at any point during this school year: As a friendly reminder, please be sure to check in with all of your classes each and every school day BEFORE 3:45 pm. Many assignments are due at midnight of the day that it is due. Attendance is different. Again, we ask that attendance check ins happen by 3:45 pm (when the regular school day is over). If you have technical issues (i.e. cannot access the Daily Attendance feature in your Google Classroom assignments to check in), EMAIL your individual teacher(s) and notify them of your technical issues with Google Classroom and state that you are "here and present" in Google Classroom for the day. Thank you!

Greetings WHS Families: We have received many calls today asking for clarification regarding WHS's COVID situation. As it stands right now, WHS has: 3 positive WHS student cases 1 positive teacher case 1 positive staff case (a WUSD bus driver) All are at home isolating and we continue to follow protocol. If they have siblings/children that attend WEMS or WHS, they too are home, whether they are sick or not. We do ask each of you, if any members in your household are sick and/or positive, to please keep ALL students home, even if asymptomatic. We can utilize Google Classroom and Zoom for the time that they remain out (until cleared to return). WHS does remain open for in person learning and fall season athletics continue. If you wish to move your child(ren) from in person to online, we can accommodate that quite easily. Just be sure to call the front office. We will respect and honor all decisions. If a student or staff member is awaiting COVID test results, they too should/are staying home until WHS has their negative result, or 10 days have passed, fever is gone for 24+ hours, and other symptoms have improved. We should also remain diligent about: staying home if sick hand washing often (soap and water for 20+ secs) wearing a mask social distancing where possible covering our mouth when we cough/sneeze continue to monitor the health of our children consult your doctor when needed/desired We will continue to keep you up to date with specific information during this fluid time.

Good Afternoon WEMS Families: We received some phone calls today concerning WEMS' COVID situation. Currently, WEMS has 1 positive student case and 1 positive staff case, as well as 1 positive bus driver case. All these individuals are at home isolating and we continue to follow protocol. If a student or staff member is awaiting COVID test results, they too should/are staying home until WEMS has their negative results, or 10 days have passed, fever is gone for 24+ hours, and other symptoms have improved. WEMS does remain open for in-person learning. If you wish to move your child(ren) from in-person to online, please call the front office. Our tech team will have PreK-2 devices available very soon, so please return your signed electronic agreement. Please help us remain diligent about: staying home if sick, hand washing often (soap and water for 20+ secs), wearing a mask, social distancing where possible, covering mouth when cough/sneeze, monitoring the health of your children, and consulting your doctor when needed/desired.
