Let's keep our children's minds' calm and active to the best of our ability!
Hello Falcon Families,
We hope you are healthy, calm, and safe during this challenging time. Despite it officially being Spring Break, we know that our families are eager for guidance from their school. Our district leadership is actively working on a plan for meal distribution and for continuing your child's education during this school closure. Please be on the lookout for more specific information about that plan soon. Until then, we all know that children can be calmed by structure and routines. So, we encourage you to set aside time for reading and learning each day. Some of this learning can be real-world learning such as sewing a button, reading a billing statement together, or doing the laundry and cooking. It can also be free online learning through a cell phone, tablet, or computer. We will send a separate message to you today with some specific educational sites and apps. Finally, here's a link to some good ways to talk to your child about COVID-19:

WEMS is committed to your child's learning and overall well-being. The best to you and your family!

Community meeting this morning: Safeway stays open, WPD still operates, City stays open, Emergency services still operate. People are available to help. If you are in dire need of daycare, call the schools and we will try to help with solutions. Teens may be able to help.
WUSD will be distributing meals starting next week. We will have pickup at WEMS and deliveries to outlying areas. Stay tuned for more details. The U.S. is now recommending limiting gatherings to 10 or fewer and stay 6ft away from others. "Mind the gap" but be a good neighbor.
Gov Ducey just closed AZ schools through March 27th. Questions arise about doing school from home, meals for kids, pay for employees. I expect more info tomorrow and will keep everyone informed as I learn more. Stay patient during this time. Good night, Mr. Honsinger (Supt)
